Concepcioun Books

During Second Storie I got to sit next to Christine, owner of Concepcioun, and chat about making work as indie business owners. In addition to being a great person, Christine makes the most awesome felt notepads. There are six different notepad inserts available. My favorites are the web account log (to store passwords) and the checklist (of course). She also makes gorgeous and impeccably crafted custom guest books.

for the market

Ok, so now I have a bag fetish, not like I didn't before. These market bags are super cute, and would actually make great totes for school books.

Yellow messenger bag by ZiaZia.

Beautiful twill bag with blue accents, also from ZiaZia.

And finally, a great moleskin-colored bag from Bespoke Boutique.

For your Valentine...

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this...chocolate type! Two of my favorite things wrapped up into one! Typolade is a German-based company, which means that I have no idea how to order these lovelies.

Equally tasty and awesome, chocolate bubble-wrap from DeLessio Bakery. I think Jake would also love this, although it might not give him that satisfying pop that real bubble-wrap does!

{both chocolates were found via sub-studio design}

I can't seem to help myself from buying fabric from Lara Cameron, owner of Kirin & Co. Lara's hand screen printed designs are so beautiful and impeccable! The photos just don't do the designs and printing justice. My only problem is that I'm afraid to cut into the fabric, although the vision of awesome throw pillows in my bedroom might just be the kick I need!

Finished!

Calendar printing is done! Lindsay and I made the final push last night and printed for 16 hours...holy crap! Saturday consisted of about 3000 pieces through the press, a few Mountain Dew breaks, some minor irritability from both of us, lots of dance music, and a chance to see the sun rise as we drove home (singing loudly, of course). I can't tell you how awesome the pages look and how happy I am that everything registered so well. It's been so amazing to work with Tara on this project and her designs look like they were made for letterpress. This week we'll be collating and packaging calendars to send out.

I was taking a break from work and found these amazing chairs. I wish I could buy a set for my dining room, since I hate the chairs we currently have!

Sucker for stationery!

I did the impossible...I made a treasury of my own! Spots for the treasury are usually impossible to snag since everyone wants to make one. But...I was up late working and decided to check the treasury on Etsy and lucked out. Check it out {right here} and buy some awesome stationery!

Poppytalk Online

Poppytalk Handmade is now up and running. I hope you'll visit my page and then check out all of the other wonderful vendors! I'm already thinking about buying Christmas goodies for everyone {and myself}.

new purchases

I bought a Nikon D40 digital camera today. I had been thinking about it for a while and decided to do away with my point and shoot. I had gotten used to using the Nikon D50 this summer and just couldn't bring myself to use my old camera any more. It's charging now, but I'm really excited to use it! Will post pictures from it soon.

I also recently got this vase from a thrift store in Buffalo. It was handmade and has the inscription "Carm 1978" on the bottom. I love the color and the birds carved into the base. It totally brightens up my mood every time I look at it!

lots of new stuff

As promised, here are a few things I got at Second Storie, although I wanted many more pieces!

These beautiful earrings and a matching ring from Megan Auman.

A great hand-sewn journal from Paperoot.

A very sweet drawing from Marlene, similar to the one above.

A set of fun matchbook jotters from Freshly Blended Press.

New Start

Every year I think of the beginning of school as a new start. A chance to finally go through the boxes of paperwork in the attic, clean out the closets, start exercising regularly, and most importantly, buy school supplies! I love going to office supply stores, and I especially love these pencils cases from Etsy sellers. I wish I had any one of these!

{From left to right, top to bottom: Cascade Lemonade, Mogo, Gifts Define, Punchanella, LouLouBell, cabin + cub}

Rainy day

The upside of rainy days at the beach is that there isn't much guilt associated with shopping! I got this great bag from a little shop a few blocks from the boardwalk. It's a great size and I should be able to carry all of my necessities in it when I start teaching next week.
For beautiful entertaining, try this spotty dish from Rare Device.

This little container is so cute. I'd love to have a dozen hanging in my kitchen window!

Serving up...

Very great {and sweet} entertaining server. Perfect for a picnic! Too bad I didn't find it sooner, or we could have really gone camping in style.
Here's an adorable meal set for all of the new babies I know.

One more

Just found out about Delight and what do you know? Another great bag!

And I couldn't resist posting this awesome dish! I want to stomp my feet it's so great{are you reading this Jake?}.

I heart bags

You all know by now that I love bags and accessories. Here's a sampling of my new favorites.

These two are from 31 Corn Lane. The second one is only $12!

Very cute wallet from Miss Alison.

Totes made from old sailboat sails at reiter8.

Summer bags

U-handbag
has some great sewing tutorials and free patterns. I hope to have time to make this bag before summer is over. I'll have to take a trip to the fabric store soon!

Birds

I wish I could have this Sara Paloma vase. It's beautiful and would have made my house much happier. Too bad for me, it sold out. Check out her other pieces, they have a really simple elegance.

First sale

I woke up this morning to find that two packs of cards have sold from my Etsy shop. I'm very excited about my first sale! I posted some more stationery this morning, too.

My new shop

I just listed a few things on my new Etsy shop, so check it out! Right now I only have single cards and card sets listed, but more will be coming shortly.
